OnePlus Nord CE 6 Unboxing & First Look (2026): 8000mAh + 144Hz AMOLED — Is It Worth Buying?

First Look by: Abhijeet Desai | Channel: @TechUnboxing007 (1M+ subscribers) | Published: May 2026 | Full review coming soon

First Impression: The OnePlus Nord CE 6 is the most battery-focused Nord CE series phone ever made. 8000mAh with 80W SuperVOOC charging, a 144Hz AMOLED display, IP68 + IP69 waterproofing and OxygenOS 16 at an expected price under ₹28,000 makes this one of the most interesting mid-range launches of 2026. Here is everything we found in the box and our hands-on first impressions.

    What’s in the Box

    • 1x OnePlus Nord CE 6 5G
    • 1x 80W SuperVOOC charger
    • 1x USB-C cable
    • 1x SIM ejector tool
    • 1x Quick start guide + warranty card

Notable: OnePlus includes the 80W charger in the box — not all brands at this price do. No case included, which is increasingly common in this segment.

Design and Build Quality — First Impressions

The Nord CE 6 arrives in a more mature design language compared to its predecessor. The Pitch Black variant we unboxed has a matte finish that resists fingerprints well — a persistent complaint on glossy budget phones that OnePlus has clearly addressed here.

The build feels premium for the price. The frame has a flat-edge design that sits securely in the hand despite the large 6.82-inch footprint. At first hold, it does not feel like a sub-₹28,000 phone.

Waterproofing — IP66 + IP68 + IP69 + IP69K: This is the standout build specification. Most phones in this segment offer IP64 at best. OnePlus has certified this phone against dust, submersion, high-pressure water jets, and high-temperature water jets simultaneously. For context, the iPhone 15 is IP68. The Nord CE 6 exceeds that standard at a fraction of the price.

MIL-STD-810H certification adds military-grade drop and environmental durability — a standard typically reserved for rugged phones.

In-display fingerprint scanner — quick and consistent in initial testing. No complaints in the first 30 minutes of use.

Our first impression: Premium build, exceptional waterproofing for the price, comfortable to hold. The matte finish is the right choice for this colour.

Display — 144Hz AMOLED First Look

The 6.82-inch AMOLED panel with 144Hz refresh rate is immediately noticeable. Scrolling through the home screen, apps and social feeds feels fluid and responsive in a way that 60Hz and even 90Hz phones simply cannot match.

Touch Reflex chip: OnePlus has added a dedicated Touch Reflex chip that boosts touch sampling rate to 3,200Hz. In gaming terms, this means inputs register faster than the display can even refresh — a genuine advantage for competitive mobile gaming. This chip is rarely seen below ₹35,000 and its presence here is significant.

Colour and contrast: AMOLED panels deliver true blacks and vivid colours by nature. The Nord CE 6’s display produces rich, punchy visuals that suit both gaming and media consumption. Initial brightness appears strong — outdoor readability testing will follow in our full review.

1.5K resolution: At 6.82 inches, 1.5K resolution gives a pixel density that is noticeably sharper than HD+ panels common at this price. Text, icons and images all look crisp.

Our first impression: One of the best displays we have seen under ₹30,000. The Touch Reflex chip addition makes this particularly exciting for gamers. Full brightness, PWM dimming and colour accuracy testing in our upcoming full review.

    Performance — Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 + Touch Reflex

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4nm) powers the Nord CE 6. We have already tested this chipset in the vivo T5 Pro and Nothing Phone 4a — it is a capable mid-range processor that handles everyday tasks, multitasking and casual-to-moderate gaming without hesitation.

In the first 30 minutes of use: app launches are instant, the interface is smooth at 144Hz, and there is zero lag in switching between multiple open apps.

What makes the Nord CE 6 different from other Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phones is the dedicated Touch Reflex chip. Where the vivo T5 Pro and Nothing Phone 4a rely on the main chipset for touch processing, the Nord CE 6 offloads this entirely — meaning competitive gaming input response is categorically better.

Gaming expectations: Based on the chipset and Touch Reflex combination, we expect BGMI to run at 90fps on Smooth + Extreme settings — the same as the vivo T5 Pro. The Touch Reflex chip advantage will be most visible in games with precise timing requirements. Full gaming benchmark in our review.

Our first impression: Smooth, fast, well-optimised out of the box. The Touch Reflex chip is a genuine differentiator for gamers in this segment.

Camera — First Look at the 50MP + 50MP Dual Setup

The dual rear camera system — 50MP primary + 50MP secondary — is an unusual configuration at this price. Most competitors pair a 50MP main with a 2MP depth or 8MP ultrawide. OnePlus has chosen two full 50MP sensors.

In our initial outdoor camera test, the primary sensor produces sharp, natural-coloured images with accurate exposure in good light. OnePlus’ image processing has always leaned toward natural tones rather than oversaturation — that character is present here.

AI Camera features confirmed on OxygenOS 16:

    • AI Eraser — remove unwanted objects from photos
    • AI Unblur — sharpen blurry shots after capture
    • AI Reflection Eraser — remove glass reflections from photos
    • AI Portrait — enhanced subject separation in portrait mode

32MP front camera — one of the best selfie sensors available at this price point. Initial test shots show clean skin tones and sharp subject detail. 4K selfie video capability confirmed.

What we still need to test: Low-light performance, night mode quality, video stabilisation, and the secondary 50MP camera’s real-world usefulness. All coming in the full review.

Our first impression: The dual 50MP setup is intriguing and the daylight primary shots look excellent. The AI features in OxygenOS 16 are genuinely useful additions. Full camera verdict pending.

Battery — The Headline Feature: 8000mAh

This is why most people will buy the Nord CE 6, and the numbers on paper are extraordinary for the price.

8000mAh capacity puts it among the highest-capacity phones in the under-₹30,000 segment — exceeded only by the vivo T5 Pro (9020mAh) and the realme P4 Power (10001mAh) at similar or slightly higher prices.

OnePlus claims 2.5 days of average use on a single charge — a bold but plausible claim given the 8000mAh capacity paired with the efficiency of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4’s 4nm architecture.

80W SuperVOOC charging means a phone of this size can be taken from near-empty to full in approximately 65–70 minutes. The inclusion of 27W wired reverse charging means you can use the Nord CE 6 as a power bank for earbuds, smartwatches or even another phone — genuinely useful for travel.

Battery health management: OnePlus commits to 80% battery capacity retention after several years of use — important for long-term ownership value.

We will run a full 7-day battery drain test for our complete review. Based on the specs and our experience with similar chipsets, we expect heavy users to comfortably reach 35–40 hours and moderate users to approach or exceed 2 full days.

Our first impression: 8000mAh at this price is remarkable. Combined with 80W charging, this could be the battery-endurance leader in the under-₹28,000 segment.

    Software — OxygenOS 16 on Android 16

OxygenOS 16 running on Android 16 is OnePlus’ cleanest software experience to date. The interface is close to stock Android with OnePlus’ customisations layered thoughtfully rather than aggressively.

Notable OxygenOS 16 features on the Nord CE 6:

    • AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Portrait — practical photography tools that work reliably
    • Always-on display — shows time, notifications and glanceable information without waking the screen
    • Shelf — OnePlus’ quick-access panel for frequent contacts, apps and recent notes
    • Gaming mode — Do Not Disturb during games, performance boost toggle, call rejection options

Bloatware assessment: OxygenOS has historically been one of the cleaner Android skins — pre-installed apps are minimal compared to brands like vivo or Tecno. Full app count and bloatware assessment in our full review.

Software update commitment: OnePlus typically offers 4 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches on Nord series phones — significantly better than most competitors in this segment.

Our first impression: OxygenOS 16 feels polished and fast. One of the better software experiences at this price point.

OnePlus Nord CE 6 vs Key Competitors

Key advantage of Nord CE 6 over vivo T5 Pro: NFC support — the vivo T5 Pro lacks NFC entirely. If UPI tap-to-pay matters, Nord CE 6 wins immediately.

Key advantage of vivo T5 Pro over Nord CE 6: Higher battery capacity (9020mAh vs 8000mAh) and brighter display (5000 nits vs unconfirmed). ₹2,000 more expensive.

Key advantage of Nord CE 6 over realme P4 Power: NFC + better software (OxygenOS vs realme UI) + dual 50MP cameras vs single 50MP.

Pick Nord CE 6 if: NFC matters, you want clean OxygenOS software, or the dual 50MP camera setup appeals to you.

Should You Buy the OnePlus Nord CE 6? — Early Verdict

Based on our first impressions from the unboxing and initial hands-on:

    Strong reasons to buy:

    • 8000mAh battery at under ₹28,000 is exceptional value
    • NFC — absent on most competitors at this price (vivo T5 Pro, realme P4 Power both lack it)
    • IP68 + IP69 + IP69K + MIL-STD-810H — industry-leading durability at this price
    • Touch Reflex chip — genuine gaming advantage over SD 7s Gen 4 competitors
    • OxygenOS 16 — cleanest software in this price bracket
    • Dual 50MP camera setup — unusual and promising
    • 4 years OS updates — best-in-class software support commitment

Things to verify in full review:

    • Actual display brightness and PWM dimming specs (not yet officially confirmed)
    • Low-light camera performance — daylight looks good but night mode needs testing
    • Real-world battery drain over 7 days
    • Gaming benchmarks (BGMI fps, sustained performance under load)
    • Final confirmed price on Amazon India — launch day May 7

Our early recommendation: If the launch price lands at or below ₹27,999, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 is one of the most well-rounded phones in the under-₹30,000 segment in 2026. NFC + 8000mAh + IP69 + OxygenOS 16 is a combination no direct competitor currently offers.
