⚡ Verdict: As of May 2026, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite
delivers the fastest chipset and best battery
in the under-₹22,000 segment in India.

Quick Verdict: The OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, launched in India on May 12, 2026 at ₹20,999, is the most performance-focused budget phone under ₹22,000 right now. The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex with AnTuTu score exceeding 1,030,000 makes it the segment’s fastest phone at this price, paired with a 7000mAh battery and OxygenOS 16 on Android 16. The honest limitation: the display is a 6.72-inch LCD panel — not AMOLED — which is a meaningful trade-off buyers should know before purchasing.

What This First Look Is Based On

We unboxed and tested the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite at launch — covering build quality, display assessment, gaming performance, camera first impressions, battery specifications and OxygenOS 16 walkthrough. Real-world battery drain test and sustained gaming benchmark results will be published in the full 7-day review.

    What’s in the Box

In the box: OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite, USB cable, 45W charger, SIM ejector tool, protective case, quick guide and warranty card.

The inclusion of a protective case in the box is a welcome touch — most budget phones skip this. The 45W SUPERVOOC charger being included (not sold separately) is standard OnePlus practice and appreciated at this price point.

Build Quality and Design — First Impressions

The Nord CE 6 Lite measures 8.55mm in thickness and weighs 208 grams, featuring a smooth matte back panel in Vivid Mint and Hyper Black.

In hand, the matte finish resists fingerprints well and gives the phone a premium feel beyond its ₹20,999 price. The Vivid Mint is the standout colour — fresh and distinctive. Hyper Black is the everyday professional choice.

Durability credentials: IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance alongside MIL-STD-810H military-grade standards give this phone genuine real-world durability at a budget price. IP64 means it handles rain, sweat and accidental splashes but is not submersible — know the distinction before testing it in a pool.

The side-mounted fingerprint scanner unlocks quickly in initial testing — consistent and fast even at awkward angles.

The 5,300mm² vapour chamber cooling system is one of the largest thermal management systems in the under-₹25,000 segment — designed to maintain sustained gaming performance without throttling. In practice this means the phone should handle long BGMI sessions without excessive heat buildup.

Our first impression: Premium build for the price. Matte finish, military durability, slim profile and a generous vapour cooling chamber form a compelling package at ₹20,999.

Display — The Honest Truth: LCD, Not AMOLED

The 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD panel offers 144Hz adaptive refresh rate (30/48/50/60/90/120/144Hz), 240Hz touch sampling rate and up to 680 nits HBM brightness.

The honest limitation buyers must know: This is an LCD display, not AMOLED. At this price bracket, several competitors — including the realme P4 and Moto G85 — offer AMOLED panels. LCD means:

    • No true blacks — blacks appear dark grey rather than pure black
    • Lower contrast ratio than AMOLED
    • Colours are accurate but less vivid than OLED
    • Higher power consumption than AMOLED for the same brightness level

What the LCD does well at this price:

    • 680 nits HBM brightness — outdoor visibility is acceptable
    • 144Hz adaptive refresh makes scrolling smooth and gaming responsive
    • 240Hz touch sampling rate — touch responsiveness is fast, crucial for gaming

Our first impression: The 144Hz LCD is smooth and functional. For gamers who care more about responsiveness than colour depth — it works well. For buyers who watch a lot of AMOLED-quality OTT content — the display is this phone’s weakest point. Know this before buying.

    Performance — Segment’s Fastest Chip Under ₹22,000

The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex (4nm) achieves an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding 1,030,000 — offering up to 43% better overall performance and 155% improved graphics performance compared to the previous generation.

OnePlus claims this makes the Nord CE 6 Lite the segment’s fastest phone at the time of launch in India within the ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 price segment. Based on the AnTuTu score, this claim holds — the Dimensity 7400 Apex outperforms the Dimensity 7300, Dimensity 7200 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chips found in most rivals at this price.

Storage uses fast UFS 3.1 — and the phone supports RAM expansion up to 16GB virtual RAM. In practice: app retention is significantly better than phones with slower storage, and multitasking between social media, gaming and streaming feels fluid.

    Gaming Performance

    GameSupported FPS
    BGMIUp to 90fps
    Free Fire MaxUp to 90fps
Call of Duty: MobileUp to 90fps
    Subway SurfersUp to 144fps

The 5,300mm² vapour chamber handles heat dissipation during sustained gaming sessions. In initial testing, no significant throttling was observed in a 30-minute BGMI session.

Our first impression: The fastest chipset in this price segment delivers genuinely smooth gaming. The vapour cooling supports sustained performance. 90fps BGMI at ₹20,999 is a strong value proposition for budget gamers.

Camera — 50MP OmniVision First Impressions

The rear camera uses a 50MP OmniVision OV50D40 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, EIS and a 2MP monochrome depth camera, supporting up to 4K at 30fps video recording and up to 10x digital zoom.

In initial daylight testing, the 50MP sensor produces sharp, well-exposed images with accurate colours. The OmniVision OV50D40 is a reliable sensor at this price — not the Sony IMX series found in more expensive phones, but capable for everyday photography.

AI camera features confirmed: AI Detail Boost, AI Eraser, AI Perfect Shot, AI Portrait Glow, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Unblur and Google Gemini integration.

What we still need to test: Low-light performance, night mode accuracy, video stabilisation quality and the 4K 30fps footage in real conditions. Full camera samples coming in the 7-day review.

Front camera: 8MP sensor — basic for selfies and video calls. Not a selfie-focused phone — the 8MP front camera is functional but not a selling point.

Our first impression: Solid daylight photography for the price. The AI feature set is comprehensive and genuinely useful. Low-light performance will determine whether this becomes a recommendation for camera-conscious buyers — full assessment in the review.

Battery — 7000mAh with Genuine Longevity Features

The 7000mAh battery with 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging is the second headline feature after the chipset.

Charging specifications: 45W SUPERVOOC fast charging + bypass charging + 10W reverse wired charging.

Bypass charging is the critical gaming-specific feature — it routes power directly to the processor during gaming rather than through the battery, reducing heat buildup and protecting long-term battery health during extended gaming sessions.

OnePlus claims the battery retains up to 80% capacity after approximately 1,600 full charge cycles — roughly 6 years of daily use based on laboratory modelling. This is one of the strongest long-term battery health commitments in the under-₹25,000 segment.

Expected battery life based on 7000mAh capacity and 4nm chipset efficiency:

    • Heavy use (gaming + streaming + calls): 30–35 hours estimated
    • Moderate use (social + video + calls): 45–50 hours estimated
    • Light use (calls + WhatsApp + basic browsing): 60+ hours estimated

Full 7-day drain test results will be published in the complete review.

Our first impression: 7000mAh + bypass charging + 6-year battery health commitment is a comprehensive battery package at ₹20,999. The 45W charging means you’re not waiting hours to top up.

    Software — OxygenOS 16 on Android 16

OxygenOS 16 brings a 36% faster camera response, 29% faster app cold start and 17% faster system startup compared to the previous version, with Google Gemini integrated as the system assistant.

Gemini Live enables real-time assistance based on what is visible on screen or through the camera viewfinder — a genuine AI utility that goes beyond simple voice queries.

OxygenOS remains one of the cleanest Android skins available — minimal bloatware compared to brands like vivo, Tecno and even realme. Pre-installed apps are limited and the interface stays close to stock Android.

Software update commitment: OnePlus typically offers 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches — the best-in-class update commitment in the under-₹25,000 Android segment.

Our first impression: OxygenOS 16 is fast, clean and well-optimised on this hardware. Gemini integration is a meaningful addition for daily productivity tasks.

OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite vs Competitors

    PhonePriceBatteryDisplayProcessorNFCGaming
    OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite₹20,9997000mAh + 45W6.72″ LCD 144HzDimensity 7400 Apex❌BGMI 90fps

    POCO M8~₹19,9996000mAh + 45WLCD 120HzDimensity 7300 Ultra❌60fps

Key advantage of Nord CE 6 Lite over every rival: AnTuTu score exceeding 1,030,000 — up to 43% better overall performance and 155% improved graphics over the previous generation, at a price where rivals use significantly weaker chipsets.

Key limitation vs rivals: No AMOLED display. Moto G85, Redmi Note 14 SE and realme P4 Lite all offer AMOLED or pOLED panels. If display quality matters more than gaming performance — those phones are better choices.

Pick Nord CE 6 Lite if: Gaming performance and battery longevity are your priorities under ₹22,000. Pick Moto G85 instead if: NFC and a pOLED display matter more than raw performance. Pick Redmi Note 14 SE instead if: AMOLED display quality is your top priority at this budget.

Should You Buy the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite?

    Buy it if:

    • Gaming performance under ₹22,000 is your priority — fastest chip in segment
    • Battery endurance matters — 7000mAh + bypass charging + 6-year health commitment
    • You want clean OxygenOS 16 software with 4-year OS update support
    • Military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810H + IP64) is important for outdoor use
    • You are a student who needs a reliable daily driver that lasts all day

    Skip it if:

    • AMOLED display quality is essential — this phone has an LCD panel
    • NFC for UPI tap-to-pay matters — not supported
    • You want a strong selfie camera — 8MP front is basic
    • Low-light photography is a priority — waiting for full review results recommended

Our early recommendation: At ₹20,999, the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite offers the fastest chipset, strongest gaming credentials and one of the best battery packages in the under-₹22,000 Android segment in India as of May 2026. The LCD display is a real trade-off that informed buyers should weigh against the performance advantages.
